ADVANCED VERSION OF BRAHMOS MISSILE TEST-FIRED

India successfully test-fired an improved version of the Brahmos missile, adding to a series of tests undertaken recently by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

The BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, with greater indigenous content and improved performance, was successfully test-launched at 10:30 a.m. from the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur, off the coast of Odisha, according to a statement from the DRDO.

The launch was carried out by Brahmos Aerospace in collaboration with teams from the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The missile flew perfectly straight and met all of the mission's goals in its faultless flight.

The missile struck the specified target "precisely," according to the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

"From INS Visakhapatnam, an advanced sea-to-sea variant of the BrahMos Supersonic Cruise missile was tested today. "The missile precisely hit the designated target ship," the DRDO tweeted.

The successful launch of the missile, according to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, "confirmed the robustness of the Indian Navy's mission readiness."

"Today's successful launch of the advanced version of the BrahMos Missile from INS Vishakhapatnam reaffirms the robustness of @indiannavy mission readiness." "I congratulate @indiannavy @DRDO India & @BrahMosMissile on their fantastic teamwork," Singh said on Twitter.

The supersonic cruise missile is manufactured by BrahMos Aerospace, a joint venture between India and Russia. It may be fired from submarines, ships, airplanes, or ground platforms.

What exactly is the BrahMos missile?

BrahMos has a peak supersonic speed of Mach 2.8 to 3 and can carry a warhead weighing 300 kilograms (conventional or nuclear) (roughly three times the speed of sound). All range instrumentation sensors, including telemetry, radar, and electro-optical tracking systems placed throughout the eastern coast and downrange ships, observed this flight test.

The BrahMos missile is a collaboration between India's DRDO and Russia's NPOM, and both teams took part in the competition. The goal has been to keep upgrading the powerful, extremely adaptable BrahMos in order to improve its efficacy and lethality against both marine and land targets.

BrahMos is a powerful missile armament system that has already been integrated into the Armed Forces and is utilized in various forms by the Army, Air Force, and Navy. Submarines, ships, planes, and ground platforms may all launch it.
