India ended the 2022 Commonwealth Games on Monday with a tally of 61 medals: 22 gold, 16 silver and 23 bronze medals. India won four gold medals on the final day of Commonwealth Games 2022 through PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen, Achanta Sharath Kamal and the men's doubles badminton pair.
India won six medals on the final day of Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022 Monday to finish fourth in the overall standings behind Australia (178), England (176), and Canada (92).
This time, India's medal haul was severely dented by the absence of shooting.
The final day started with table tennis star Sathiyan Gnanasekaran winning the men's singles bronze medal play-off.
Lakshya Sen is in the elite club. He became the fourth Indian male shuttler to win a CWG singles gold medal. He joins Prakash Padukone (1978), Syed Modi (1982) and Parupalli Kashyap (2014).
The Commonwealth Games 2022 came to an end on Monday after a glittering closing ceremony at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham.
The Games flag was lowered and handed over to Victoria, Australia which hosted the next edition of the CWG in 2026.
The closing ceremony had kicked off with a performance from Solihull band Ocean Colour Scene. This was followed by a musical performance from the Birmingham-born band Dexys Midnight Runners.
Also, one of the biggest musical bands, UB40 added more to the event, while other musicians and bands from the Midlands region entertained the crowd with their performance.
