Practise more self-love in 2023 with these positive affirmations


The beginning of the new year is the perfect time to reflect on your past and present experiences. For some, it may be full of achievements and for others, learning great lessons from life would be on top of the heap. But between ups and downs lies a point where you need to love yourself a little more than the external world.


In a world where hardships and negativity seem to be the norm, joy can be a hard thing to come by. But engaging in practices which help you find your inner goodness and peace will elevate you to be a positive being.


Importance of Self Love

Self-love is a form of self-care that when practised regularly brings out the best in an individual. Engaging in practices which feed your soul with therapy and positivity whether it's travelling, journaling, cooking or just spending extra time with loved ones can all be forms of self-care.


But the hustle and bustle make it challenging to look beyond the uncertainties and shift the mindset from negative events to a positive mindset. This transition can be overwhelming but it's what we need the most. Shedding the old patterns and forming positive patterns, new habits come with accepting yourself, kindness and compassion.


So today itself says goodbye to old patterns and habits which don't serve us anymore, gloomy days and choose these positive affirmations to shine brightly amidst the crisis and love yourself a little more on tough days:


1. I'm good enough

Convincing yourself that you are good enough no matter the situation or how people perceive you, you need to love yourself a little extra through thick and thin. The affirmation that "I'm good enough", actually makes you feel good about yourself and your surroundings, thereby boosting your Morale and confidence to fight the gloomy days.


Don't let the crippling beliefs limit your inner goodness. Practise this affirmation by writing on paper and practising journaling. Every night before sleeping write great things about yourself and practice gratitude.


2. I'm allowed to fail but not fall

Allow yourself to fail once in a while but do not lose yourself or fall on the ground in the process. It's absolutely acceptable to fail even in the basic tasks but never demotivate yourself or pressurise yourself to be perfect. Perfectionism is the root cause of misery. Hence, dump aiming for perfectionism rather than focus on your actions and progress. Reprogram your mind to think positively even in negative situations.


3. I'm solely responsible for my happiness

Giving yourself ownership of your emotions and making yourself solely responsible for your happiness is one act to save yourself from the clutter of worldly things. When you put the affirmation that, "I'm solely responsible for my happiness", you end up making yourself happier by putting your happiness in your hands. People can have your happiness but being dependent on people for your happiness will lead to a path full of emotional turmoils and disappointments.


Practising such affirmations on gloomy days can be a great way to uplift your mood and take back control of your happiness.


4. This year, new opportunities await for me

Reprogramming your mind to think that new opportunities await you through consistent repetition will allow you to stay positive. By giving yourself hope and assurance, you can attract yourself to fruitful opportunities in life.


5. I embrace myself and my emotions

It’s vital to embrace all your emotions. Emotional awareness is often the first step toward personal growth and healing. By allowing yourself to embrace your emotions, you also allow yourself to grow and accept yourself well.


6. I'm growing every day for good

Grow is a key aspect to be happy and content in life. Allow yourself to grow every day and learn new things. Being open to learning will boost your wisdom and perspective towards life.
